To celebrate the launch of Navigating the Online Landscape, a new Community Research Special Collection, we invite you to a webinar bringing together a panel of diverse and highly-respected speakers for an insightful and timely panel discussion about the rapidly evolving online landscape and its use locally. Now, more than ever, it is essential to raise the visibility of unique priorities, community concerns and aspirations for how we navigate these spaces in Aotearoa. Drawing on local evidence, lived experience, and community knowledge, and framed by Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity, and intersectionality, this webinar will explore how online harms can directly and indirectly diminish participation, wellbeing, visibility, and self-determination.
We are very pleased to be joined by our panel: Anjum Rahman, Karaitiana Taiuru, Suze Wilson, and Tracey Nichols for short presentations, followed by an audience Q&A.
Navigating the Online Landscape is a living and evolving Special Collection hosted by Community Research. It brings together Aotearoa-based research, resources, and community knowledge on content-based online harms, digital safety needs, structural questions about platform business models, operational practices, and the opportunities online spaces create for communities. This collection is a collaboration involving Community Research, Tāhono Trust, Amnesty International New Zealand, and the Online Safety Coalition. We thank the many researchers and knowledge-makers for their important mahi and for their contributions to the collection.
