Paora Moyle

Paora Moyle currently manages several significant research projects as a senior researcher and is a Principal Advisor to the Abuse in Care Royal Commission. Paora has a 30-year career in social work and is best known for their unwavering advocacy for whānau Māori and mokopuna who are most often forcibly drafted by the New Zealand state through abusive child protection processes. Paora believes that if your research about violence does not include state-imposed violence on whānau, then it is not research. Paora is non-binary and a staunch advocate for takatāpui and trans whānau visibility. Not least, they are a proud grandparent of four very loved mokopuna.
