Maham Fatima

I am a PhD researcher in Biological Sciences at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland, researching the systematics, diversity, and evolutionary relationships of lichens, with a focus on Heterodermia in Aotearoa New Zealand. My research integrates morphological, molecular, chemical, and phylogenetic approaches to improve understanding of lichen biodiversity and support conservation. My doctoral research is conducted in collaboration with the Bioeconomy Science Institute, and I also work as a Research Associate at Auckland War Memorial Museum, contributing to research in fungal and lichen biodiversity. My broader interests include fungal and lichen taxonomy, biodiversity, and the potential of lichens as sources of bioactive compounds.
