Carolina Nery is a PhD researcher in Landscape Architecture at Lincoln University, Aotearoa New Zealand, and an architect and participatory design practitioner. Her research explores how communities generate valuable knowledge through lived experience, culture, and collective action, and how this knowledge can inform more inclusive urban and environmental decision-making. She is investigating the potential of community-owned AI to support place-based knowledge, democratic participation, and community-led research. Carolina has over 20 years of experience designing and facilitating participatory projects across Brazil, Australia, and New Zealand, with a focus on social innovation, civic engagement, and community intelligence.
