Our People

Samuele De Stefani

I am a social scientist passionate about museums and their impact on people and society. As a museum professional, I study audience behaviour and the visitor experience.
I currently serve as the Head of Audience Insights at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, where I lead the team responsible for organising, conducting, and reporting on audience research and program evaluation. Throughout my career in the cultural sector, I have been deeply committed to understanding audience and community needs, expectations, feedback, and experiences using data and evidence as strategic tools to identify and measure impact.
I believe in the importance of cultural vitality for the well-being of individuals and communities, and I am passionate about making cultural activities accessible to all. I am currently a member of the Board of Trustees of Art Access Aotearoa, a leading art organisation advocating for accessibility in New Zealand’s cultural sector.
