Kia ora, ko Madi ahau. He uri tēnei nō Marutūāhu, Taranaki Whānui, me Pākehā hoki.
Madi is our Digital Content and Communications Coordinator, alongside her studies as a Masters student in Indigenous Studies, where her research focuses on the relationships between takatāpui, social media, and data/algorithmic sovereignty.
She is particularly interested in the ways media shapes, normalises and influences our own identities and the fabric of our collective society. She is also interested in indigenous and postcolonial research more broadly, as well as cultural and historical research.
Beyond her various strands of work, Madi is a storyteller. She enjoys writing and creating, but mostly just being in and around the ngahare, maunga and kūkūwai.
Her mahi aroha lies with mahi taiao—caring for one of her ancestral awa, Kumutoto.
