About Whānau Ora Research

A new but old approach

As inequities continue for Māori, there is a growing need for solutions and knowledge to make Aotearoa a fairer place for tangata whenua.

This is the space on our website for Whānau Ora-centric research, tools and resources. Whānau Ora is about increasing the well-being of individuals in the context of their whānau so it is whānau-centred. Whānau Ora does differ from traditional social and health approaches that focus solely on the needs of individuals. It is about whānau leading the change for themselves, not being directed by governments or organisations.

If you work with whānau Māori, hapū, iwi or are a researcher undertaking work to look at solutions specifically designed to reduce whānau Māori inequities, then this is a page for you to mark as a Favourite on your browser.

Community Research is committed to supporting increased capability and capacity of the evaluation and research sector to ensure kaupapa Māori and Talanoa approaches and world views are a core part of any design and evaluation work on programmes, funding and investments that affect tangata whenua and tangata Pasifika.
