I’ve been a kaupapa Māori researcher for 20 years predominantly in the fields of Māori education, adult learning, whānau wellbeing, and more recently, in Māori health, housing and environmental wellbeing. I’ve worked on national level projects, ones for small NGOs, and many in between! In the past 20 years I’ve also completed a PhD in Māori education and the Treaty of Waitangi (2004), spent 8 years working as a senior researcher and advisor for Māori-based political parties and set up a small kaupapa Māori research and evaluation consultancy that I run with two colleagues (Tīaho Limited). He uri au nō Ngāti Maniapoto, he whāngai au nō Ngāpuhi.
