Dr. Sarah Jane D. Lipura is a multilingual researcher-practitioner with a doctoral degree in Asian Studies from the University of Auckland (UoA)
She was a recipient of the University Doctoral Scholarship, Faculty of Arts Research Grant and, Universitas 21 Doctoral Mobility Scholarship. Before coming to New Zealand, Sarah was the founding director of the Korean Studies Programme, Ateneo de Manila University, with which she remains transnationally affiliated as Managing Editor of Social Transformations: Journal of the Global South.
As an interdisciplinary scholar, she actively publishes in the fields of international student/youth mobilities, migration and Asian Studies. As a practitioner, Sarah proactively participates in initiatives that promote migrant and international student well-being. She also previously worked at North Asia CAPE, where she developed language and cultural immersion programmes for New Zealand schools and communities. She enjoys spending time and travelling with her family, in both New Zealand and the Philippines
