I am a registered nurse with over 28 years nursing experience. In 2017 I completed a PhD in Public Health and Social Work focusing on Māori cultural identity and the link to health and wellbeing, through a personal journey of cultural reconnection. Completing an HRC postdoctoral fellowship in Māori health in 2024 as a research fellow at the University of Auckland in the School of Nursing (2020-2024). I have been in teaching, research and leadership positions in Queensland, Australia at UniSQ, Griffith university, University of Queensland and Australian Catholic University. I am an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Auckland. I am currently employed as an Associate Professor in Nursing at Edith Cowan University Western Australia.
