Leonie King

I have been involved in providing youth development opportunities, for women and marginalised youth, predominantly through outdoor adventure.
After witnessing the inequities in access to opportunities for marginalised youth to participate in extra-curricula outdoor activities at High School I undertook Masters-level research. This research focused on what could be done to ensure refugee-background youth had equitable access and inclusive and positive experiences while participating in youth development opportunities. I am currently Outward Bound NZ’s first Diversity, Inclusion and Outreach partner. I also run the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award for neuro diverse youth in Wellington.
