Janie Walker

I work in community, allyship, participatory action research, engagement and equity. I have worked as the General Manager of Community Research 2021/2022 to advocate for community and whānau aspirations for research. I have also worked extensively in community engagement. My Master’s degree looked at local concerns in climate change adaptation in Fiji. I am interested in research design, ‘data’ collection, and how research is shared to participants and communities. I strongly advocate for authentic research partnerships. I believe that we should always be asking ourselves, ‘who is research for?’ I also join Community Research is advocating for lived-experience and knowledge to be validated alongside academic research.
