Opportunities for Indigenous Research Support

NGoTM

Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga (NPM) is pleased to announce their latest research commissioning round.
The New Research stream is an open commissioning process. Projects will receive up to $300,000 for two years, commencing on the 1st December 2013 and concluding on 30th November 2015.
The closing date for Expressions of Interest for the New Research stream is Tuesday, 30th April 2013.
NPM is a Centre of Research Excellence (CORE) in the field of indigenous development, with three research priorities as follows:

  • Optimising Māori Economic Performance  harnessing the contribution of Māori peoples to New Zealand’s economic development through increased, successful and positive participation in the general economy and through distinctive Māori contributions to economic development.
  • Fostering Te Pā Harakeke – understanding, achieving and maintaining healthy and prosperous families of mana and the lessons this may hold for New Zealand families overall.
  • Enhancing Māori Distinctiveness – understanding and yielding the distinctive contribution that Māori peoples make and may yet make to New Zealand society, culture, economy and overall prosperity.

These research priorities are the focus for our new projects. The latest research commissioning is being undertaken via two streams: New Research and Expanding Excellence.
NPM will also invest to extend the potential, value, outputs and outcomes of pre-existing NPM projects in the Expanding Excellence stream. Applicants for Expanding Excellence are invited from our Principal Investigators.
All criteria, forms and details regarding both streams are listed at http://www.maramatanga.ac.nz/funding/research
