Conor Twyford

I currently work for Enviroschools and Arts Access Aotearoa in team development and policy roles.

My passion for the environment was ignited in the late 1980s when working as a young fisherwoman on the Great Barrier Reef. My experiences at sea compelled me to undertake a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science. I later trained as an artist.

I’ve had a long and varied career, spanning community development, small arms research, union organising and campaigning, and work to support survivors of sexual abuse. I have a Graduate Diploma in Not-for-Profit Management, and my Master’s thesis explored education union members’ perspectives on tamariki-centred climate action. In 2023 I’m commencing a PhD focused on child rights and climate change.
